I want to share something about life. I know I’ve said this before—probably more than once—but it’s worth repeating:
Our purpose in life is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love others as much as we love ourselves. (Matthew 22:37-40)
That’s the foundation. Everything else flows from this. “Enjoy serving the Lord, and he will give you what you want.” (Psalms 37:4 NCV)
Yes, we stumble, and sin happens. When it does, we address it, seek forgiveness, and move forward.
Life is also about serving others, earning a living, raising our children, and teaching them how to live well. It’s about helping those in need, worshiping, praying, and sharing our testimony with others.
It’s about building relationships filled with love—whether it’s with our spouse, kids, friends, or anyone we meet along the way.
At its core, life is about honoring and loving God, thanking Him—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—for all He is and all He’s done.
“Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.”
(Romans 12:2 NCV)
We can do all these things when we are young, middle-aged or even older. We can do it healthy and maybe even while we are sick.
We enjoy life as we follow His Word, worship Him, and strive to love and forgive others as He forgives us. “People may make plans in their minds, but the Lord decides what they will do.” (Proverbs 16:9 NCV)
We give love freely. If we’re blessed with resources, we share them with those in need. If someone is longing for love, we pour ours into them.
Of course, we aim not to sin, but when we do, we resolve it. That’s part of the journey. And through it all, we keep going until the day we meet Him face to face.
Along the way, we’re meant to enjoy this life He’s given us—to have fun, to spend wisely the money He’s blessed us with, to travel and enjoy His creation, to savor good meals, to care for our bodies, and to cherish time with others.
We worship. We thank Him. We praise Him. We help others and teach them what God has so graciously taught us, making their path a little easier—if they’re willing to listen.
We share Christ with those who don’t yet know Him. “Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” (John 14:6 NCV)
This is life. This is how we’re called to live it: maintaining balance, walking in holiness, practicing kindness and forgiveness, being good stewards of what we’ve been given, and above all, showing love - God’s love.
God loves us. Jesus gave His life to cover our sins. The Holy Spirit helps us every step of the way. That’s how we make it through.
So, Lord, help me live this life well, the way You’ve called me to live. IJNIP Amen. ♥️
