Life After The Last Breath

How often do you stop and really think about it? What will it be like to die, to go to heaven, and to actually meet GOD?
To stand face to face with Jesus? To see the saints—Adam, Eve, Moses, John the Baptist—and be reunited with believing family and friends who’ve gone before us?
It’s one thing to know you’re saved. It’s another thing entirely to imagine what it will be like to experience it all. To live it. Heaven. Jesus. GOD. Eternity.
I think this is part of what Jesus was getting at when He “turned to His followers and said privately, ‘You are blessed to see what you now see. I tell you, many prophets and kings wanted to see what you now see, but they did not, and they wanted to hear what you now hear, but they did not.’” (Luke 10:23-24, NCV)
Take a moment. Really ponder it.
If you believe Jesus is your Lord and Savior, your past, present, and future sins are forgiven. And when your body dies, your soul lives on—transformed into eternity.
The Apostle John caught a glimpse:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and there was no sea anymore.” (Revelation 21:1, NCV)
It does us good to picture it—our new life after death.
It brings hope. It shifts perspective. It makes hard days feel a little lighter. It reminds us that everything we’re dealing with is temporary.
And hopefully, it stirs joy in our hearts when we remember:
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1, NIV)
Yes, sinful people without Christ are condemned—but not the saved. Not the ones who love and follow Jesus. Not us.
If it’s been a while, slow down. Visualize it:
Your body takes its final breath, but your soul continues. You receive a new, glorified, heavenly body.
As Paul wrote:
“There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the beauty of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the beauty of the earthly bodies is another.” (1 Corinthians 15:40, NCV)
We don’t know exactly what our new bodies will look like, but they’ll be different—and they’ll be ours forever.
It’s amazing. All of it.
GOD, thank You for salvation. Thank You for saving our souls. Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for the promise of life after death. Jesus, thank You for conquering death. Even though we don’t physically see You now, help us to see You—with eyes of faith. Help us to clearly imagine our eternal future with You. IJNIP Amen ♥️
