What will you do with your time, your money, your energy—your life—while you wait on God?
Let’s be real. We are impatient. We want what we want, and we want it now. That’s just human nature.
It reminds me of when Moses went up the mountain to meet with God (40 days). He received life’s instructions and the Ten Commandments, but while he was gone, the people got restless.
“The people saw that a long time had passed and Moses had not come down from the mountain. So they gathered around Aaron and said, ‘Moses led us out of Egypt, but we don’t know what has happened to him. Make us gods who will lead us.’ (Exodus 32:1 NCV)
Sound familiar? The Bible is full of stories about people waiting—and growing impatient.
John Piper a great bible teacher once said, “God is always doing ten thousand things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.”
The truth is, most of us move too fast and stay too busy to notice God working around us—let alone pause to appreciate the beauty of the moment.
But the Apostle James reminds us:
“Brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord comes again. A farmer patiently waits for his valuable crop to grow from the earth and for it to receive the autumn and spring rains. You, too, must be patient. Do not give up hope, because the Lord is coming soon.” (James 5:7-8 NCV)
And Peter reassures us:
“The Lord is not slow in doing what he promised—the way some people understand slowness. But God is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to be lost, but he wants all people to change their hearts and lives.”
(2 Peter 3:9 NCV)
We’ve all heard the phrase: Don’t pray for patience, or God will send you situations to test it. And maybe that’s true. Ask for money? He may teach you to live on less. Ask for strength? He may allow trials to build it.
But the real question is this: Are we willing to wait on God and see what He does in His perfect timing?
God loves us so much that He gave Jesus to die for our sins. Why wouldn’t He show up in our circumstances now? “He will.” He sees, He cares, and He will deliver us.
LORD, give us the faith to wait on You. Help us live and walk with You, trusting Your ways. Your commands are for our good and Your glory. Help us live as people who truly love You—and love others.
IJNIP Amen. ❤️
