What Does Passover Look Like In You?

What exactly is Passover? And more importantly—what does it look like in your life right now?

Is there even still a Passover today? The answer is yes. But it looks a bit different now than it did back then.

In Deuteronomy, Moses commanded the people:

"Celebrate the Passover of the Lord your God during the month of Abib, because it was during Abib that he brought you out of Egypt at night.”

(Deuteronomy‬ ‭16‬:‭1‬ ‭NCV‬)

A little context—“Abib” was the first month of the Hebrew calendar. But it wasn’t just a time stamp. It symbolized newness, resurrection, freedom, beginnings, and redemption. This was God’s timing—His moment of salvation.

Passover marked the night the Angel of Death passed over the homes of the Israelites, sparing their firstborns, while the Egyptians suffered the final and most devastating of the ten plagues.

It was God’s judgment—His way of persuading Pharaoh to finally let His people go. So yeah, it was a big deal.

But what about today?

Well, the Jewish people still commemorate this powerful moment of deliverance. But for followers of Christ, Passover takes on a new and even deeper meaning.

Jesus is our Passover. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, eternal death passes over us.

Jesus was crucified during Passover. He was—and is—the Lamb who was slain. His blood, shed once and for all, became the covering for those who believe in Him.

Back then, the Israelites sacrificed a lamb and shared a meal before stepping into freedom.

Today, Jesus became that lamb.

He gave His body and His blood to deliver us. That’s why we take communion—the Holy Eucharist.

The bread represents His body, beaten and broken. The wine (or juice) symbolizes His blood poured out during His suffering and crucifixion.

God’s judgment passes over those who belong to Christ.

So the question becomes: Who or what is your Lord and Savior?

And how deeply are we—you and I—committed to God, to Jesus, to the Holy Spirit? Are we loving others the way we love ourselves?

Because that is the evidence. Those are the true markers of belief in today’s Passover.

GOD, thank You for making a way for us to escape Your just and holy judgment.

Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for the Passover. IJNIP Amen. ♥️
