What are you skilled at? We all have something—some natural talent or ability that sets us apart.
My wife, for instance, can spot the smallest details in contracts and documents that I would completely overlook. She has a gift for it.
Some people can sing, dance, design, counsel, or even build rocket ships. But where do these skills actually come from?
The simple answer? Everything—absolutely everything—comes from God. He designed us, inside and out, with our unique physical, emotional, and intellectual attributes.
When Moses led the Israelites in building the Tabernacle, he wrote in Exodus:
“The Lord has given them the skill to do all kinds of work. They are able to cut designs in metal and stone. They can plan and sew designs in the fine linen with the blue, purple, and red thread. And they are also able to weave things.” (Exodus 35:35 NCV)
Even back then, people were given skills—not by chance, but by God’s intentional design.
When the Corinthians started putting Paul and Apollos on pedestals, practically idolizing them, Paul quickly set them straight:
“Is Apollos important? No! Is Paul important? No! We are only servants of God who helped you believe. Each one of us did the work God gave us to do. I planted the seed, and Apollos watered it. But God is the One who made it grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:5-6 NCV)
See, we are simply stewards of what God has given us. We might put in the effort, but He is the one who brings the growth.
So, the real question is this: What have you done with what God has given you?
Are you using your money, time, energy, talents, and opportunities wisely? Are you being a good steward of the life He’s entrusted to you?
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians:
“If anyone belongs to Christ, there is a new creation. The old things have gone; everything is made new! All this is from God.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NCV)
God has made you new. But do you feel that renewal? Are you embracing the gifts and blessings He has placed in your hands?
Maybe it’s time to evaluate our stewardship.
LORD, thank You for the gifts You have given me. Help me to be a good steward, to give generously, and to use what You have entrusted to me for Your glory and to help others.
IJNIP Amen. ❤️
