Are you facing a big decision right now? Which way should you go?
Many of us calculate each option for success - maybe to avoid pain and sacrifice. That’s not a bad thing, in fact, it can be wise.
However sometimes, the answer is not clear or it’s a direction we simply don’t desire.
For example, should you stay or leave? Should you start or stop? Should you speak or be silent? Should you just walk in obedience and see what happens? The options could keep going.
I’ve always loved the attitude of Abram as he and his nephew Lot traveled together and became more wealthy.
“During this time Lot was traveling with Abram. Abram and Lot had so many animals that the land could not support both of them together.Abram said to Lot, “There should be no arguing between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine.” (Genesis 13:5,6 NCV)
Abram said, “We should separate. The whole land is there in front of you. If you go to the left, I will go to the right. If you go to the right, I will go to the left.” (Genesis 13:8-9 NCV)
Abram didn’t care which direction he was to go.
His attitude was that God has promised success. It didn’t matter which way he went - God would bless it.
But why did he know God would bless him?
Because earlier “The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land I will show you. I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.” (Genesis 12:1-2 NCV)
It took faith to trust God regardless of the option Lot chose. Abram’s direction that he chose was God’s direction - in faith.
As long as Abram was obedient to God, he knew God would bless his direction and decision.
So I suppose the first question you and I should ask ourself: “Is what I’m desiring congruent with God?” Is it His way?
It takes faith to walk in obedience not knowing what God will do. In some cases He may test your faith. Other times, he may refine you through some pain and suffering.
And other times, he may simply bless you and give you even more than you expected - or desired.
The question is: “Can you trust Him?” Can you walk in obedience regardless of what you see, what you feel and what you think?
Just trust Him. He’s reliable. He loved you so much, He gave His only Son to save your soul. He’s not about to abandon you now. Just trust Him.
LORD, help us be like Abram. HOLY SPIRIT, give us the faith and strength to move forward in obedience even if we can’t see where the road leads. Please give us faith to follow and walk beside you. My favorite verse is Hebrews 11:1 - “Faith is having hope in things unseen.” GOD, when I can’t see the outcome, please give me the faith, knowing you control my outcome. IJNIP amen ♥️
